Article in WFP 1987.10.04 - Residents signed petition to stop store from opening. Also had an arcade attached.
"The petition was the result of my intent to sell used games. (Board and role playing). To do so you require a Second Hand Dealers license. I followed the process and posted my intent to apply for the license. A local took this application as my intent to open a pawn shop and gathered about 40 signatures. In the end I successfully appealed the petition at the community hearing and got my license. An interesting note was shortly after opening I added video rentals to the inventory and the guy who started the petition was one of the first membership applicants. Within the first year comics were not a focus and I pretty much let it coast. Focus was video and nintendo rentals and role playing games and miniatures. On a personal note, my brother and I both worked for Styx Comics. My brother stayed many years after I left to open my own shop." - Dave Pelissier
